Diabetes is the fifth-deadliest disease. Since 1987 the death rate has increased 45 percent. In 2002; diabetes claimed an astonishing 224,092 lives in the United States alone. It is believed that the number was actually higher since most deaths of the elderly had multiple chronic conditions associated with their death including diabetes. Many people do not know that they have diabetes until they develop other life threatening conditions such as, heart disease, high blood pressure, blindness, kidney damage, nervous system damage, dental disease, sexual dysfunction, and a number of other complications. When you have diabetes the above complication are side illnesses, diabetes is this root of all of your medical problems and must be under control for you to recover from the side illnesses period! Being checked by your physician on a regular basis is absolutely necessary for your overall quality of life. If you do not know that you have diabetes, there is no other way of knowing that you have this deadly disease without a check up.
There are several different types of diabetes such as, type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes. Type 1 is the body's inability to produce insulin, people with type 1 are insulin dependent for the remainder of their lives, and they must also keep close track of their diets. Type 2 is the most common form of diabetes; diabetes is a chronic disease and has no cure. While an estimated 14 million people have been diagnosed with diabetes it is also estimated that close to 6.2 million are unaware that they have this deadly disease.         نامه امام به همسرش

        نامه محبت‌آمیز امام خمینی جوان به همسرش

        شخصیت مردان بزرگ الهی، برخلاف مردم عادی، تك‌‌بعدی نیست و وجوه گوناگون دارد. آنان با تهذیب نفس توانسته‌اند، اضداد را در خود جمع كنند. برای مثال؛ امام خمینی با پشت سر گذاشتن مدارج عالی تعالی انسانی، ظرفیت وجودی خویش را چنان وسیع ساخت كه توانست، مفاهیمی ‌چون عرفان، ساده‌زیستی، جهاد، زهد، سیاست، مدیریت، قاطعیت، عاطفه، سازش‌ناپذیری، انعطاف، فروتنی، عزت‌طلبی و... را یكجا در شخصیت خویش جمع آورد. ایشان با وجود قاطعیت و سازش‌ناپذیری، روحی لطیف و عواطفی عالی داشت كه به اشكال گوناگون، جلوه‌گر می شد.

        به نوشته جام‌جم، از آن جمله این‌كه در فروردین سال 1312 شمسی، كه امام عازم سفر حج بودند، در بیروت، نامه‌ای برای همسر باوفای خویش ـ كه دومین فرزند را در بطن خود داشتند و در آن شرایط حساس روحی، علی‌القاعده از دوری شوی خویش رنجور بودند ـ نوشتند كه به یقین، مطالعه آن برای شما نیز همچون ما جالب است و امام را در تراز انسانی كامل و صاحب ابعاد گوناگون می‌شناساند.

        تصدقت شوم، الهی قربانت بروم، در این مدت كه مبتلای به جدایی از آن نور چشم عزیز و قوت قلبم گردیدم، متذكر شما هستم و صورت زیبایت در آیینه قلبم منقوش است.
        عزیزم، امیدوارم خداوند شما را به سلامت و خوش در پناه خودش حفظ كند. [حال] من با هر شدتی باشد می‌گذرد؛ ولی به حمدالله تاكنون هرچه پیش آمد، خوش بوده و الان در شهر زیبای بیروت هستم(1). حقیقتا جای شما خالی است، فقط برای تماشای شهر و دریا خیلی منظره خوش دارد. صد حیف كه محبوب عزیزم همراهم نیست كه این منظره عالی به دل بچسبد.
        در هر حال، امشب، شب دوم است كه منتظر كشتی هستیم. از قرار معلوم و معروف، یك كشتی فردا حركت می کند، ولی ماها كه قدری دیر رسیدیم، باید منتظر كشتی دیگر باشیم. عجالتا تكلیف معلوم نیست، امید است خداوند به عزت اجداد طاهرینم، كه همه حجاج را موفق كند به اتمام عمل. از این حیث قدری نگران هستم، ولی از حیث مزاج بحمدالله به سلامت. بلكه مزاجم بحمدالله مستقیم‌تر و بهتر است. خیلی سفر خوبی است، جای شما خیلی خیلی خالی است. دلم برای پسرت [سیدمصطفی] قدری تنگ شده است. امید است كه هر دو(2) به سلامت و سعادت در تحت مراقبت آن عزیز و محافظت خدای متعال باشند. اگر به آقا [پدر همسر امام] و خانم‌ها [مادر و مادربزرگ همسر امام] كاغذی نوشتید، سلام مرا برسانید. من از قبل همه نایب‌الزیاره هستم. به خانم شمس آفاق [خواهر همسر امام] سلام برسانید و به توسط ایشان به آقای دكتر [علوی] سلام برسانید. به خاور سلطان و ربابه سلطان سلام برسانید.

          افسردگی‌ خفیف‌ پس‌ از زایمان‌ با حمایت‌ خانواده‌ و دوستان‌ معمولاً به‌ سرعت‌ برطرف‌ می‌شود. اگر افسردگی‌ شدید شود ممكن‌ است‌ مادر دیگر قادر به‌ مراقبت‌ از خود و كودك‌ نباشد و بستری‌ در بیمارستان‌ ممكن‌ است‌ ضرورت‌ یابد (به‌ ندرت‌). حتی‌ موارد شدید افسردگی‌ با داروها، مشاوره‌ با متخصص‌ مربوطه‌ و حمایت‌ اطرافیان‌ معمولاً قابل‌ علاج‌ است‌.
          عوارض‌ احتمالی‌
          فقدان‌ پیوند عاطفی‌ بین‌ مادر و كودك‌، كه‌ برای‌ هر دو زیان‌آور است‌.
          افسردگی‌ شدید كه‌ ممكن‌ است‌ با احساسات‌ تهاجمی‌ نسبت‌ به‌ كودك‌، از دست‌ دادن‌ احساس‌ عزت‌ در ظاهر و منزل‌، بی‌ اشتهایی‌ یا غذا خوردن‌ اجباری‌، دوری‌ كردن‌ از دیگران‌ یا تمایلات‌ خودكشی‌ همراه‌ باشد.
          درمان‌
          اصول‌ كلی‌
          مادران‌ نباید از این‌ كه‌ احساسات‌ پیچیده‌ای‌ در مورد مادر بودن‌ خود دارند احساس‌ گناه‌ كنند. ایجاد تطابق‌ و ایجاد پیوندی‌ عاطفی‌ طبیعی‌ نیاز به‌ درمان‌ دارد.
          - در نظر گرفتن‌ برنامه‌های‌ مكرر خارج‌ از منزل‌ نظیر قدم‌ زدن‌ و دیدارهای‌ كوتاه‌ با دوستان‌ و اقوام‌ برای‌ مادران‌ مفید است‌. این‌ برنامه‌ها به‌ مادران‌ كمك‌ می‌كند تا دچار احساس‌ انزوا از دیگران‌ نشوند.
          - مادران‌ باید كودك‌ خود را در اتاق‌ جداگانه‌ای‌ بخوابانند. در این‌ صورت‌ مادران‌ راحت‌تر استراحت‌ خواهند كرد.
          - مادران‌ می‌توانند برای‌ كارهای‌ روزانه‌ نظیر خرید كردن‌ و مراقبت‌ از كودك‌ در هنگام‌ استراحت‌ خود از خانواده‌ یا دوستان‌ كمك‌ بگیرند.
          - مادر در صورت‌ احساس‌ افسردگی‌ بهتر است‌ احساسات‌ خود را با همسر یا یك‌ دوست‌ كه‌ شنونده‌ خوبی‌ برای‌ حرف‌های‌ اوست‌ در میان‌ بگذارد. صحبت‌ كردن‌ با سایر مادران‌ امكان‌ استفاده‌ از همفكری‌ و تجربه‌ آنان‌ را فراهم‌ می‌كند.
          - اگر افسردگی‌ شدید شده‌ و بستری‌ در بیمارستان‌ را ایجاد نماید، توصیه‌ می‌شود كه‌ مادر در یك‌ مركز نزدیك‌ منزل‌ بستری‌ شود تا رابطه‌ نزدیك‌ وی‌ با كودك‌ حفظ‌ شود.
          - روان‌ درمانی‌ یا مشاوره‌ با متخصص‌ مربوطه‌ در صورت‌ تداوم‌ افسردگی‌ توصیه‌ می‌شود.
          داروها
          داروهای‌ ضدافسردگی‌. این‌ داروها اغلب‌ هنگامی‌ مؤثرند كه‌ 4-3 هفته‌ مصرف‌ شوند. اگر مادر به‌ كودك‌ خود شیر می‌دهد هرگونه‌ داروی‌ تجویزی‌ از این‌ بابت‌ باید به‌ دقت‌ در نظر گرفته‌ شود.
          فعالیت در زمان ابتلا به این بیماری
          محدودیتی‌ وجود ندارد. فعالیت در زمان ابتلا به این بیماری های‌ طبیعی‌ خود را هر چه‌ سریعتر از سر بگیرید.
          رژیم‌ غذایی‌
          رژیم‌ خاصی‌ نیاز نیست‌.
          درچه شرایطی باید به پزشك مراجعه نمود؟
          وجود افسردگی‌ پس‌ از زایمان‌ و در كنار آن‌ رخداد تغییرات‌ دیگر در زندگی‌ نظیر طلاق‌، تغییر شیوه‌ زندگی‌ یا اسباب‌ كشی‌
          - عدم‌ بهبود افسردگی‌ پس‌ از زایمان‌ در طی‌ 6-4 هفته‌
          - وجود افكار و تصمیمات‌ جدی‌ خودكشی‌ كه‌ این‌ حالت‌ یك‌ فوریت‌ روانپزشكی‌ است
